What you'll learn
The STCW Basic Safety Training is the internationally required entry-level certification for every seafarer working on commercial vessels under SOLAS regulations.
Course Modules
Over five intensive days, you cover four core IMO-mandated modules:
- Personal Survival Techniques – use of lifejackets, immersion suits, liferafts, and survival signals
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting – fire detection, extinguisher types, and practical firefighting drills
- Elementary First Aid – CPR, wound management, and casualty handling at sea
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibility – shipboard safety culture, environmental duties, and emergency procedures
Delivery & Certification
Delivered by IMO-accredited instructors with practical wet-drill and hot-fire components. On successful completion you receive an STCW Basic Safety certificate recognised by all flag states.
